DJ Miller



DJ directs administrative services and serves as the department’s business manager, providing oversight of expenditure and revenue forecasting, human resource and personnel matters, facility management planning, as well as serving as a member of the department Leadership Team evaluating operational needs and participating in comprehensive strategic planning initiatives.

Virni Caculitan

Executive Assistant

Virni provides administrative support to the Chair, Associate Chair, and Administrator, in addition to providing administrative support to Academic and Staff HR Teams as well as coordinating office management functions (space requests, access issues).

Laurel Belton

Academic HR Manager


Laurel oversees faculty affairs and academic HR processes (faculty appointments, reappointments, promotions, etc.), in addition to providing administrative support to the Chair and coordinating faculty meetings and activities for the Epi Leadership Team.

Cassie Atkinson-Edwards

Manager of Special Projects 
Cassie provides broad-based project management oversight across numerous department initiatives including strategic planning, in addition to serving as the lead for department events, and implementing comprehensive community building activities. Cassie is also available to assist with facility questions regarding Epi’s space in the Hans Rosling Center.

Tera Figueroa

Staff HR Manager

Tera manages staff human resources functions for the department including staff recruitments, orientations and onboarding, managing staff Workday entries, overseeing Academic Student Employee (TA/RA) appointments, and general administrative tasks related to staff HR.

Matt Anderson

Budget & Fiscal Unit Supervisor


Matt provides fiscal and administrative support for the department including travel reimbursements, oversight of staff assignments, ProCard transactions, budget reconciliations, bank deposits, purchasing and reimbursements, and equipment inventory and insurance.

Veronica Jones

Grants & Contracts Director


Veronica directs the comprehensive research administration activities for the Department, and partners with the Pre-Award Grants Manager and the Post-Award Grants Manager in providing a full spectrum of support across sponsored research projects and other funds associated with faculty budgets.


Pre-Award Grants Manager
In collaboration with PIs, sponsor agencies, research partners and University research support offices, the Pre-Award Grants Manager provides support and expertise across the breadth of pre-award processes and policies as defined by sponsors, federal and State agencies, and the University.


Post-Award Grants Manager
In collaboration with PIs, sponsor agencies, research partners and University research support offices, the Post-Award Grants Manager ensures sponsored research awards are received, budgeted and expended effectively and efficiently in compliance with federal, State, sponsor, and University regulations, policies, and procedures.

Matthew Hawkins

Assistant Director of Financial Operations

Matthew provides a breadth of financial oversight, and partners with the Administrator to ensure that financial operations are carried out effectively and accurately, that budgetary details are correct and in compliance, and serves as a high-level lead for Workday Finance business processes. Additionally, Matthew leads the administrative oversight of training grants.

Payroll Manager


Donna provides, supports, and coordinates numerous Workday functions.

Elsie Rochleau

Student Assistant

Elsie (she/her) is an undergraduate student majoring in Communications and Business. Elsie assists academic and staff HR along with special projects. She supports AAC faculty appointments, student ASE appointments, website updates and EPI events among various other tasks. She is the incoming UW SHRM club President.
