You will be notified by the department of your initial advisor assignment by early June. If you would like to request a specific faculty member as your advisor, please email Your initial advisor will primarily serve as an academic advisor and networking resource for you until you have identified a thesis/dissertation project and Chair. We encourage you to consult with your initial advisor and meet with other faculty as you develop your thesis/dissertation project. Once you have engaged a faculty member to be your Chair, that person will become your primary advisor.
