My name is Raymond W. Lam, and I am a Master of Public Health (MPH) Student in Epidemiology at the University of Washington. My main interest focuses on infectious disease research, specifically communicable disease surveillance. I became interested in public health and epidemiology because of my desire to understand and address the health disparities that affect marginalized communities. Witnessing these inequities firsthand motivated me to pursue data-driven solutions that can make a meaningful impact. Through my experiences in public health, I aim to use research to promote population health changes by informing policy decisions and public health interventions. I believe that by uncovering trends, identifying risks, and guiding critical decisions, I can help empower underserved communities and reduce health disparities. My background in data science and public health practice strengthens my commitment to advancing health equity and improving population health outcomes.
