About

Ithiri Lansakaranayake is Sri Lankan and grew up in England, Houston, and Washington State. She is a second-year MPH candidate in Epidemiology at the University of Washington, where she also earned her B.S. in Public Health–Global Health with a minor in Data Science. Before graduate school, Ithiri worked as a Workplace Health and Safety Specialist at Amazon, where seeing workplace injuries firsthand sparked her interest in environmental and occupational health and in preventing harm before it happens. She also worked as an Operations Assistant at the Brotman Baty Institute for Precision Medicine on the CASCADIA and Husky Coronavirus Testing (HCT) studies. During her first year in the program, Ithiri was a Teaching Assistant for core undergraduate public health courses (SPH 380 and SPH 391/392). Her work with SPH 391/392 includes two co-authored posters for the 2026 Joint Conference on Health (WSEHA/WSPHA). She is currently a Research Assistant at the Seattle Epidemiologic Research and Information Center (Seattle ERIC) at VA Puget Sound. Ithiri is curious about a lot of things, but her primary research interests are environmental and occupational health, exposure science, toxicology, cardiometabolic disease, and infectious disease.
