Ling Guan is a PhD student in the Department of Epidemiology at UW, where she also earned her MS in Epidemiology in 2023. She obtained her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Peking University in China in 2015. Ling is a first-generation college student and is of Chinese Manchu minority descent. She was born and raised in a heavily industrialized city in northeastern China, one of the regions with the highest incidence of lung cancer worldwide. Her research focuses on the etiology of lung cancer among people who have never smoked and on patient survival, with a particular interest in small-cell lung cancer.
