Wendy Wandile Dlamini is a PhD student in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. Originally from Eswatini, she holds a Master of Science in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. Her research focus is at the intersection of HIV/AIDS and non-communicable diseases, with a growing interest in geriatric syndromes among older people living with HIV. This focus is deeply motivated by the health challenges facing her home country, Eswatini, which has the highest HIV prevalence globally and the broader sub-Saharan Africa, where the burden of HIV/AIDS remains substantial. Prior to her doctoral studies, Wendy worked as a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer supporting Global Fund grants in Eswatini and later as a Data Analyst at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri — roles that reinforced her passion for research as a tool for making data-driven decisions that improve health outcomes and lives.
