He earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree from the University of Nairobi and has over four years of post-internship experience in clinical and research positions focused on infectious diseases and clinical trials. Dr. Nyangaresi has extensive experience in coordinating clinical trials, managing research operations, and overseeing projects. He has held leadership positions at various institutions and, most recently, served as the clinic section head at Pwani Research Centre, a collaborative research site associated with the University of Nairobi and the University of Washington. His work has focused mainly on HIV, tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections, and vaccine trials. He has led regulatory processes, coordinated multidisciplinary study teams, overseen participant safety and data quality, and contributed to protocol development and implementation across multiple studies. Through his MPH training, Dr. Nyangaresi is expanding his expertise in epidemiologic methods and U.S.-based research systems. He is particularly interested in understanding how clinical trials are operationalized and managed in the U.S. compared to African settings, as well as exploring programmatic and clinical management approaches for HIV/STIs and other infectious diseases within U.S. healthcare systems.
