Astrid Maves is an MPH student in the Department of Epidemiology. She obtained a BS in Clinical Psychology and a BA in History with an emphasis in the History of Science from the University of California, San Diego. Prior to graduate school she worked as a clinical research assistant for UC San Diego Health's HIV Neurobehavioral Research Center and later worked at the Pulmonary Intensive Care Unit on a study of substance use disorder presentation in the ICU. Her research interests include HIV/AIDS, substance use disorders (notably opioids, meth, and alcohol), and clinical interventions to achieve health equity.
