Dissertation title: Understanding Enteric Dysfunction as a Determinant of Post-Discharge Pediatric Mortality in Kenya and Pakistan.

Research interests: Global Pediatric Health

Awards or recognition: As a research scientist at UW I’m Co-PI of a Thrasher Early Career Award that funded my dissertation work. I’m also Co-PI of the Mama Aweza Trial which is testing an mHealth system to identify malnourished children in western Kenya, and a Gates Foundation Award to provide extended COVID surveillance at six Kenyan hospitals in collaboration with Kenyan MOH.

Plans post-graduation: Continuing my work in the Department of Global Health

Advice for students: Don’t be afraid to reach out to people – everyone loves Epi Students!

Favorite memory: The general feeling that the entire department is supportive and keen to help students be successful.
