Bio
(She/hers) Dr. Bender Ignacio is an infectious diseases physician, epidemiologist, and clinical trialist focusing on HIV broadly. She directs UW Positive Research, a Clinical Research Site of the NIAID-funded ACTG Network, which more broadly conducts research important to people with HIV, focusing on treatment, HIV remission/cure, and associated comorbidities and co-infections. She also leads work focused on HIV treatment for people with cancer in East and Southern Africa, focusing on clinical outcomes, epidemiology, and implementation of coordinated HIV-cancer care. She is part of the HIV Outcomes Prevention and Epidemiology (HOPE) group at the Fred Hutch and is the Medical Director of the Fred Hutch's COVID-19 Clinical Research Center.
