Bio

Anita Shet is a pediatrician and public health researcher whose work focuses on childhood infections and health equity. After training in pediatric infectious diseases, she spent a decade in India, where she established one of the country's first public-private antiretroviral treatment clinics and developed a pediatric HIV cohort that informed national guidelines on early antiretroviral therapy and viral load monitoring. At Johns Hopkins, her research spans vaccines, emerging infections, and the transition from adolescent to adult care for young people living with HIV. She has contributed to immunization policy in India and supported vaccine introduction in fragile settings across sub-Saharan Africa. Her current work uses implementation science and community-based participatory research to develop school-based approaches to vaccine literacy and youth-led interventions that promote resilience among adolescents facing social disadvantage. She is a dedicated teacher and mentor and a strong advocate for students and early-career faculty. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking and spending time with her family and dogs.
