Research Data Analyst - UW Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Washington has an opening for a Research Data Analyst, Requisition Number:206077. This is a full-time position eligible for remote or hybrid work. This position is part of our department Research Core and reports to the Director of Biostatistics, Dr. Ronit Katz. Under the general supervision of Dr. Katz, this individual will design, develop, coordinate, and perform statistical aspects of study design, implementation, and analyses for investigators.
This position will support a variety of projects in ObGyn and other collaborating departments. At the time of hire, they will spend at least 50% of their time on Dr. Kemi Doll’s study described below:
Dr. Kemi Doll has multiple active projects that broadly address endometrial cancer inequities that affect Black women and intervention development, from pre-diagnosis to treatment and survivorship. This position will support her new project, “Reevaluation of ultrasound guidelines to improve early detection of Endometrial Cancer among US Black women”. It is a health services and community engaged project to identify a risk-based approach to evaluation for vaginal bleeding that eliminates the racial disparity present in the current clinical guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collaborate with clinical investigators to complete analysis of clinical data and contribute to the writing and submission of manuscripts, scientific reports, and grant applications.
• Perform statistical analyses -- statistical analyses may include, but are not limited to, descriptive analysis, linear, logistic, Poisson, and multinomial regression modeling, and survival analysis with competing risks.
• Provide analytic consultation for a wide range of research projects - assist investigators in appropriate choice of statistical method.
• Develop, coordinate, and evaluate quality assurance procedures for on-going data collection and analysis – this will include data cleaning, restructuring, and management
• Take primary responsibility for the statistical aspects of protocol development and implementation and/or scientific committee work.
• Represent departments/ projects at scientific meetings.
• Provide supervision, guidance, and mentorship to junior faculty and trainees in performing basic study analyses.
• Perform other duties as necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Statistics or related field or equivalent experience
• Three years of job-related experience
• Statistical analysis
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
• Master’s Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Statistics, or related field
• Experience with survival analysis methods and various regression methods
• Interest in Obstetrics & Gynecology
• Experience with REDCap
• Proficiency in R and/or Stata
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Experience working with junior faculty and trainees
• Experience in cancer care or research
• Prior professional or community experience in reproductive/gynecologic health & healthcare, racial disparities/social determinants of health with self-motivation for continued independent learning in anti-racism praxis and gender inclusivity
