Matt Anderson, Budget/Fiscal Unit Supervisor
Matt provides fiscal and administrative support for the department including oversight of staff assignments, ProCard transactions, budget reconciliations, bank deposits, purchasing and reimbursements, employment requisitions in UWHires, keys and building access, equipment inventory and insurance, space inventory in GeoSIMS, and Facilities work requests.
Layla Bristol, HR Coordinator
Layla provides support to three SPH departments (including Epi) and coordinates numerous functions including payroll and staff leave-records.
Angie Buck, Assistant to the Chair
Angie provides administrative support to the Chair and Leadership Team, manages academic HR processes (faculty appointments, reappointments, promotions, etc.), oversees front-office operations, and coordinates faculty meetings and other department events and functions.
Sixtine Gurrey, Communications Specialist
Sixtine provides support for many of the communications functions in the department, including serving as webmaster, writing content, managing social media, promoting departmental events, producing internal newsletters, and other related efforts.
Cheryl Kalent, Program Operations Specialist
The Program Operations Specialist provides faculty with direct support of their budgets and expenditure planning, reconciliations, effort certifications, as well as pre-award support in coordination with the Grants Manager. The role is also responsible for coordinating numerous finance functions including Academic Student Employee appointments, and travel reimbursements.
Erica MacArthur, Communications Manager
Erica oversees the department's communications program, coordinating communications that strengthen visibility among key audiences. Specific tasks include content writing, branding, graphic design, alumni and donor relations, and other special projects.
Barb McLaughlin, Grant and Contract Manager
Barb manages pre- and post-award activities for sponsored research projects including proposal submissions, monitoring compliance and deadlines, directing award close-out processes, and providing department review and approval of IRB applications.
DJ Miller, Administrator
DJ directs administrative services and serves as the department’s business manager, providing oversight of expenditure and revenue forecasting, human resource and personnel matters, facility management planning, as well as serving as a member of the department Leadership Team evaluating operational needs and participating in comprehensive strategic planning initiatives.
Julie Nevins, Systems Analyst
Julie performs analysis and support of Student Academic Services (SAS) procedures and systems, including design and programming of complex relational databases, admissions, and training grants, as well as providing other project assistance as a member of SAS.
John Paulson, Assistant Director of Student Academic Services
John manages Student Academic Services (SAS) and oversees and participates in student advising and recruitment across all programs, plans and leads programmatic services for current students, facilitates the overall admission process, and supervises SAS staff.
Kevin Schuda, Curriculum and Student Services Specialist
Kevin is a member of Student Academic Services (SAS) and serves as the main support individual for all aspects of curriculum, the UW Time Schedule, course evaluations, and grading. In addition, Kevin also contributes to student advising, recruitment, admissions, Visit-Days, and student orientation activities.
Main Office Student Assistants
The Student Assistants working in the department’s main office provide numerous services including reception, responding to inquiries, maintaining conference room reservations, assisting with mail and copying, and working on projects for other functional areas of the department including student academic services, grants, finance, and communications.
