On December 27, 2017, the Department of Epidemiology will welcome Annie Pellicciotti as the new Communications Manager to lead the Department’s communications program.
Annie, a Chicago-area native, received her Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature at Alfred University in upstate New York. During her Master’s program in Communications at Purdue University, Annie specialized in health communications and internationally-focused marketing and communications.
Annie has dedicated her professional career to STEM science communications. She has worked as a marketing content writer for the Center for Infectious Disease Research. After a stint as a marketing communications manager at Microsoft, Annie joined the University of Washington’s Department of Electrical Engineering (UW EE) as their public information officer. There, she led the Department’s communications efforts. Of all the projects she accomplished in UW EE, she is most proud of her work on the department alumni magazine, the Integrator, where she was able to share the lives and triumphs of UW EE alumni and students.
A true storyteller at heart, Annie looks forward to learning about the passion behind the faculty, staff, and students who work in the Department of Epidemiology. She is excited to shine a light on this passion through her storytelling skills.
Outside of business hours, Annie is likely reading a book. Annie reads a variety of genres of literature, from essays to memoirs to fiction. If a book has been recommended by the staff at the Elliott Bay Bookstore, she will likely have read it. Since moving to Seattle in 2014, Annie has enjoyed learning how to ski in the Cascades. Annie is also an avid world traveler. She will be traveling to New Zealand in the spring.
