Nominees for this year’s UW Distinguished Staff Award include our very own Department of Epidemiology staff, Kevin Schuda. Kevin became a member of the Department of Epidemiology Student Academic Services Office (Epi SAS) a few years ago when we initiated a reorganization of staff responsibilities. Kevin came to us from the Institute for Public Health Genetics where he had many years of experience being the primary support for that interdisciplinary program’s academic services.
As our Curriculum and Student Services Specialist, Kevin has been an outstanding employee since his hire. Throughout the entire past academic year the Epi SAS Office was without a manager and thus operating at only two-thirds of the usual staffing level. Kevin stepped up to the challenge by broadening his areas of responsibility, especially through his interactions with large numbers of prospective and admitted students contacting the office for advice. His level of institutional and departmental knowledge is vast and has been an immensely valuable resource.
The UW Distinguished Staff Awards program was established in 1997 to honor outstanding staff based on their extraordinary accomplishments and contributions to their departments and the University. Kevin will be honored at a university-wide reception on February 19 for all Distinguished Staff nominees.
